Mrs. Brooke Stratton
What I love most about teaching at St. Peter School is the staff and community!
Anyone who walks into the school building will instantly feel the love and support that they both provide to all who enter. I knew I wanted to be a part of the St. Peter community to contribute the same things to my students!
I previously taught 6 years at Highland Elementary. I taught both third and fourth grade. While in fourth grade, we were departmentalized, and I was teaching math to all of the sections. I then made the transition to St. Peter School, and I love it! This will be my third year teaching sixth grade.
I feel extremely blessed to have the opportunity to continue to do what I love. Transitioning from a public school to a private Catholic school was a new experience for me. I have been Catholic my entire life. I grew up attending St. Anthony’s Church and going to PSR on the weekends. Attending a public school and then teaching at a public school did not provide me with the freedom to talk openly or teach about my faith with others. Luckily, the transition into our Catholic school quickly became second nature. I can never see my classroom without the faith instilled in it!

My Teaching Style
I strive to make sure all of my students know they are loved first. Conversations are an integral part of my teaching style.
Literature books are one of my favorite subjects to generate these conversations. I try to play off the students’ abilities and experiences.
These come through in conversations in all of our subjects! I also try to do a lot of hands-on activities.
Get to know me...
I grew up in the surrounding area of Quincy and attended Liberty through high school. I then attended the University of Northern Iowa to receive my bachelor’s degree in Elementary and Special Education. My husband, Nick, is also from Quincy and graduated from Quincy Notre Dame. We have been married since 2018. We have two daughters, Sage and Eva! They are the lights of our lives and we love watching them grow! In our free time, my husband and I enjoy attending concerts, playing out-side with our girls and traveling. We hope to have the opportunity to travel and see the world more with our two children!
