Mrs. Emily Mellon
I love teaching at St. Peter! I am currently a teacher, parent and parishioner at St. Peter and I feel blessed to be apart of such a wonderful community.
I really enjoy second grade. The students are just beginning to become independent in the classroom and they grow so much throughout the school year. I love their curiosity and fun personalities. I hope to help my students grow by guiding them in their academics and in their spiritual lives.
I have the pleasure of preparing the students for the sacrament of Reconciliation. I feel blessed to have the opportunity to help my students mature in their faith.
In my classroom I hope to create an environment where all students feel safe, valued and supported. I try to create a classroom community where we value differences and work together.
My favorite subjects to teach are reading and science. I use the workshop approach in my classroom to provide each student with the opportunity to have more individualized support through reading and writing conferences as well as guided reading. Guided reading allows students to have the opportunity to read books at their own levels and receive instruction in small groups of similarly leveled students.
I really enjoy the hands on aspect of science. We do a lot of experiments and activities in my room and I love to see my students’ curiosity and excitement
