Mrs. Sara Reeder
Music has always been an important part of my life. I want students to appreciate music. They don’t have to love it, as long as they try. And I love when we can have fun and learn at the same time. It doesn’t have to be work, it can be enjoyable!
I never thought that I would be at St. Peter School for as long as I have, but I love it here! My dream was to become a high school band director. What I like most about teaching at St. Peter’s is the students are wonderful and the faculty is so great to work with. Everyone is very caring.
We are blessed to have a variety of musical instruments to enhance our learning. We also have a classroom set of Ukuleles that our middle school students enjoy using. Students begin to play the recorders when they are in 4th grade. They continue with recorders through 5th grade.
In 5th grade, students have the opportunity to join the PMO band. PMO band students in 5th-8th grade have group lessons here at St. Peter once a week. They also meet at QND once a week to practice with the band members from the other parochial schools.
A unique opportunity for my students in grades 5th-8th is the option to join the St. Peter Children’s Handbell Choir. We are the only Children’s Handbell Choir in Quincy. We perform at different church services and assemblies throughout the year.

Get to know me...
I went to St. Dominic grade school and QND, then received a B.S. in Music Education from Quincy University. I was in the PMO band 5th – 8th grade, the QND band 8th – 12th grade, the QU Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble 10th grade through college and have played in the Quincy Park Band over 30 years and counting. I started the St. Peter’s Handbell Choir which is a proud accomplishment. I have been married to my wonderful husband, Bryan, for 19 years. I have a beautiful daughter Samantha., and my adorable son Jacob. We have 2 cats, Ginger and Sushi.
My husband and I are avid baseball fans. He likes the Cubs and I like the Cardinals. It’s always very entertaining in the Reeder household. I hate to cook so I enjoy any kind of food that I don’t have to make. I have a weakness for Pepsi. But spending time with my family is what I enjoy the most.
